March 5, 2010 Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh Township of West Windsor 271 Clarksville Road West Windsor, NJ 08550 Dear Mayor Hsueh: We have lived in West Windsor, at Canal Pointe, for over a year and a half. First off, let me say that we find West Windsor a very nice place to live. We are very pleased with the school system, and we feel that West Windsor has been a good choice for our family. However, there is one issue that I would like to bring to your attention. This is the lack of traffic lights on Canal Pointe Boulevard. This lack of traffic lights causes two problems. First is the difficulty of exiting the Canal Pointe development while driving. During certain times of the day and evening, traffic is not only heavy on Canal Pointe Boulevard, but the cars speed. Exiting the development is made even more tricky by the fact that Canal Point Boulevard curves, giving the driver little straight line of vision to see on-coming vehicles. Also, crossing Canal Pointe Boulevard can be quite a challenge for pedestrians. My son and I often walk to the movie theater at MarketFair, or come and go on the 605 bus route. The same issue I mentioned above, the fact that Canal Pointe Boulevard curves, giving the pedestrian no real clear line of sight to see on-coming vehicles, creates a potentially dangerous situation. This is all made even more problematic by the fact that Canal Pointe Boulevard is poorly lit at night. This problem has been mentioned to me by many people, including NJ Transit bus drivers. If West Windsor does a traffic study of Canal Pointe Boulevard, I believe it will be found that the traffic pattern, particularly during week-day rush hours, and week-end afternoons and evenings, is deemed worthy of traffic lights. Thank you for your attention, Mrs. Sherri Bobish
