Mercer County has just installed a multi-use path on Edinburg Road between the east entrance of Mercer County Park and Darvel Drive.
This quick-build bi-directional path for walkers, runners and cyclists makes it safer for Jefferson Park residents and others to reach the park from Galston Drive via Bruntsfield Drive and the little bridge over Bridegroom Run.
Mercer County says it will be taking down the bike lane sign that’s in the photo.
In a first for West Windsor, white plastic bollards (those posts in the photo) help separate users of the new path from the road.
Drivers, please be attentive and don’t hit the posts!

More changes for Edinburg Road?
West Windsor has announced it will resurface New Edinburg Road between Woodmere Way and Village Road East beginning July 28. It’s a long project; it’s expected to wrap up around Sept. 8. We will all be glad to see the bumpy surface go, but a smoother surface doesn’t mean you should drive faster. Please obey the speed limit.
In addition, West Windsor has applied for a Bikeway grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation to fund a multi-use path from the park’s east entrance to Old Trenton Road. NJDOT grants are competitive, and it will be at least several months until we learn whether West Windsor was successful.

Yes, several pairs of bi-directional arrows were added to the lanes.
I ride my bike frequently on Edinburg Road, passing the east entrance. Was not aware the new lanes were bi-directional but suspected it since lines on the other side of the road were removed. Are directional arrows going to be painted on the new lanes? Thanks!
