The West Windsor Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance once again has awarded a number of scholarships to graduating seniors.
From WW-P High School North:
Shreyaa Sanjay – for her essay about her realization that just walking to school made her more awake for classes and less stressed. We applaud how she got others to walk to school with her merely by asking them to join her and thereby creating, as she put it, a small unofficial crew. You also could call it a walking school bus. We hope others here will be inspired by the mental health benefits of walking. Or, if you prefer, biking. Ask a friend or neighbor to join you! We encourage Shreyaa to keep walking and biking throughout her college career and beyond. Don’t forget to connect your CMS sibling with the WWBPA – let’s keep that walking school bus rolling!
From WW-P High School South:
Snehal Agrawal – for her essay and grassroots effort to motivate her neighbors to walk more. We loved that some neighbors stopped to take photos of her signs and that kids were excited to keep walking to see what the next sign would say. It’s a great lesson in the impact of simple ideas and of small changes. The WWBPA encourages her to continue finding ways to encourage people to walk more and do some errands on foot.
Aaryan Chowdhury – for his essay and his app Cycle Pro Vision that alerts cyclists to potholes and other road hazards and lets them share the ones they come across. The WWBPA wishes Aaryann the best in his college career and hopes that he will continue to use his programming skills to benefit cyclists.
Nicholas Yagnick – for his essay and his work to make Plainsboro Preserve’s Purple Trail more usable for walkers and more welcoming for youth programs. The WWBPA congratulates Nick on his Eagle Scout award and hopes he will continue to work on biking and walking projects as an adult. More immediately, we hope that he will encourage his Boy Scout troop to connect with the WWBPA.
We wish the awardees all the best in their future scholastic endeavors and would welcome their continued engagement with walking and bicycling advocacy work in general and the WWBPA in particular.
