Right turns on red soon will no longer be allowed at all parts of the intersection of Penn Lyle and Clarksville roads as well as Harris Road and Clarksville.
The change, recommended by the West Windsor Police Department, was approved by West Windsor Council last month (see ordinance 2024-26 in this link). The new signs should soon be installed.
These changes, done in conjunction with Mercer County, are another step in making it safer for people to walk in our township. In particular, it will improve conditions for students walking to High School South at the same time that drivers are rushing to work.
The WWBPA continues to await the completion of a second project in the area: pedestrian-activated yellow flashing lights on Penn Lyle by Canoe Brook. This is something we have been requesting in the two years after a 63-year-old was hit crossing the street while in the crosswalk. The township has hired engineers to design the project.
