Thank you for your support for the all-volunteer West Windsor Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance in 2024. We’ve had a busy year and are proud of our accomplishments, many of which are public and others that we can’t yet announce.
On Giving Tuesday, please consider renewing your membership for 2025 or becoming a member for the first time.
Here are just some of the year’s highlights:
We shared our “Spin the Wheel” bike and walk safety questions with hundreds of students at numerous West Windsor-Plainsboro school events in addition to our usual participation at the Farmers Market, Community Day and Dive Into Summer.
Thanks to our connections, the Greater Mercer Transportation Management Association led bike-walk safety classes for 185 second graders in Dutch Neck School. We continue to work toward seeing this program added to more WW-P classrooms.
With all of us advocating together, West Windsor increased the township’s “crosswalk improvement” budget from $20,000 to $100,000 for the 2024-2025 budget year. This money can be used to install more of those pedestrian-activated flashing yellow lights at dangerous intersections in town. Several already are in the works for crossings near West Windsor schools.
PLUS the WWBPA worked with new allies to help get safety gear such as reflective vests and bands, bike helmets, and bike lights into the hands of those who rely on bicycles to get to work. Thanks to our members, we were able to meet these people at their price point. Your membership for 2025 will let us expand this work.
Did you make it to our events in 2024?
Here are just some of them:
- Walks every Tuesday morning in Community Park (9:30 AM start);
- Our annual walk to the Farmers Market on Opening Day;
- A fix-a-flat tire session for the community;
- A Learn to Bike clinic for children;
- The only Ride of Silence held in Central Jersey, part of an international event to honor those who have been killed or injured on a bicycle;
- A Martian Bike Ride, together with the Historical Society of West Windsor, to commemorate West Windsor’s role in the 1938 version of “The War of the Worlds”.
The WWBPA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit run only by volunteers, so every dollar of your membership goes toward making West Windsor a safer and more inviting place for all to walk and bike.
