The West Windsor Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance and the Historical Society of West Windsor once again celebrate our community’s role in the 1938 radio broadcast of “The War of the Worlds” with a special bike ride on Sunday Oct. 27.
This year the ride will leave at 10 a.m. from near Grovers Mill Coffee House (Southfield Commons Shopping Center, where McCaffrey’s is). Grab a drink or a snack there and appreciate its own tribute to the broadcast before we head four more Martian sites: the Martian sculpture outside the West Windsor Arts Council, the red barn where the Martians “landed”, the water tower in a backyard that was mistaken for the Martian spaceship, and the War of the Worlds monument.
Total distance is about 9 miles.
The ride is free, but preregistration is required. Riders must be at least 12 years old, and helmets are required.
