Plainsboro to Extend Bike Path

Plainsboro has awarded a contract to construct a bike path on Plainboro Road from Maple Avenue (by the railroad bridge) to Prospect Avenue, one block east. That will fill in a key gap in the township’s bike network.

    The article in the WW-P News didn’t say anything about lights and I didn’t find details about the contract on the township’s website aside from a mention in the winter 2009/2010 newsletter that said: Included with the bike path is the
    installation of retaining walls, guide rails and other
    improvements.
    Did you see our recent post about the cross signal in New Brunswick? Depending on what is installed (or not installed), maybe that’s something to suggest.

    This is great news, but will there be lights or a (enforced) crossing at the top of Maple road so that cyclists can safely cross from the new part of the bike path to the existing part? A colleague of mine was knocked off his bike at just that spot, trying to cross traffic to get onto the bike path….
